Creating a complementary and frictionless commerce with MEF 3.0 LSO Sonata APIs
As an industry association of 200+ leading service and technology providers, MEF is recently standardizing LSO Sonata APIs, as part of a comprehensive effort to standardize multiple sets of LSO APIs, enabling service automation across providers and network technology domains and streamlining business customers’ experience.
HGC Global Communications is one of first eight service providers that is on track to be production-ready for deploying MEF 3.0 LSO Sonata APIs to drive frictionless commerce. Learn more about how the global federation of standardized services allows operators to move beyond commoditized services from Jacqueline Teo, CDO of HGC.
A key pillar of our digital transformation is to open our platforms and enable connections that are reusable, efficient and scalable. As such, we chose to adopt LSO Sonata to leverage an industry specification that other service providers, telco ISVs and OEMs etc, were also adopting. This will enable inter-operational efficiency and therefore faster go-to-m arket at lower costs.
With more people working from home remotely and entertainment, social and professional events moving in to the virtual space, we are seeing an increase in FTTH and FTTO connections, as well as increased demand for internet capacity. We see that carriers who can interoperate while getting products and services out to customers quickly can meet this growing demand faster. Further, the ability to provide flexible capacity, as to meet the current climate of uncertainty and future fluctuating business conditions will place us in a far stronger position.
I cannot emphasize enough how significant business knowledge and business process solutioning is for a successful implementation of the LSO Sonata APIs. It is also essential to run test harnesses to smooth out the processes between buyers and sellers. MEF 3.0 LSO Sonata adoption was part of our overall API strategy which drove us reevaluate our processes and business models. Led by design thinking, this further drove our digital transformation to simplify our processes and understand how to use our data for frictionless commerce, and to cater customers’ needs.
As there are different buy and sell use cases and process among wholesale providers, such service does attribute disparity in service definitions within industry. I believe that the deployment of the LSO Sonata APIs is a standard that supports service providers to coordinate in a meaningful and scalable way to interoperate in the industry.
