HGC International Business - Case study - Vietnam Television
Established in 1966, VTV is committed to educating citizens and enriching their spiritual life through a wide ,range of television programmes and multi-media communication platforms. As one of the national television broadcasters of the country, VTV has now established 9 free-to-air and 15 pay channels, broadcasting in each major city and most of the 51 provinces in Vietnam, as well as 18 international bureaus, such as Russia, Belgium, United Kingdom, etc.
The SEA Games, is a regional multi-sports event that involves athletes from 11 countries, including Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, etc. Held once in every two years, the 30th edition was held in the Philippines from 30 November to 11 December 2019, targeting over 500 million viewers worldwide.
To allow Vietnamese home audiences enjoy the SEA Games locally and abroad, VTV planned to broadcast the SEA Games live on its channels. However, satellite, the only method VTV used for live broadcasting in the past, is very expensive that the company would like to seek for another cost-effective option to deliver en-coded HD channels, which are in high resolution, secure streaming and low latency.
High-quality and stable internet connection is essential for successful live streaming. Experienced in providing tailored-made connectivity services for various types of customers, HGC developed a total solution for VTV’s livebroadcast at the SEA Games, from technical preparation to implementation. We offered our tailor-made VPLS services with bandwidth of 20Mbps for VTV, which provides fast and secure end-to-end transmission from IBC – ASEAN Convention Center in Clark Philippines to VTV headquarters in Hanoi.
With our reputable local partners at both sites: HTC-ITC in Vietnam and ICT Converge in Philippines, it enables fast and smooth service delivery as local project managers were dedicated to work closely with the event organizer, which eliminated the language and time zone barriers. Apart from technical preparation, HGC also offered 24/7 monitoring of end-to-end network performance and application utilization, as well as onsite systems integrators to provide timely support during the whole event.
